Located across from the Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa, this store was formerly the home of Freimans. Hudson’s Bay bought the retailer in 1972 and it was converted to The Bay a year later.
This location featured an Saks Off Fifth in the basement and the Zellers pop-up on three, which took up about half the floor space. Unfortunately, one of the escalators was out of service and the air conditioning wasn’t turned on during an unseasonably warm day in mid-April.
It still had a lot of merchandise at the time despite the fact the liquidation had been announced a month earlier.
