This was formerly Morgan’s flagship store in downtown Montreal. The department store chain was purchased by Hudson’s Bay in the 1960s. This location and others in Quebec and Ontario were converted to The Bay in the 1970s. Two additions were made to the building and this store took up an entire block. This was one of the six Hudson’s Bay locations that was supposed to be saved.
Some of the ceilings and the pillars on the main floor weren’t covered up and modernized. While the additions were eight storeys each, they had been closed off years ago.
